I went to MoMA and stood in front of Andrew Wyeth's Christina's World. Not my favorite painting by any means, but it got more interesting when I listened to it. I recorded exactly one hour of audio while standing there, capturing the voices of people telling stories triggered by the image, the crying of babies, and the ambient footsteps and chatter of the museum. Later I stretched an unprimed canvas using the exact dimensions of the painting and installed speakers behind it to play back the recording.
